New Dreads
Whether your transformation is going to be permanent or temporary, made from your own hair or extensions, it’s important that your new dreads are secure, even, and well-placed. Careful planning, sectioning, and creating all contributes to the comfort and health of your scalp, as well as the overall form and longevity of your dreads.
A new set of dreads means different things to different people. We find that the range of reasons people come to us for dreads is hugely varied, from the truly humbling, meaningful, or spiritual types to the ones who simply want to wear and appreciate a classic and eyecatching style. We invite you to come sit with us and enjoy a few refreshments, a small curated library, Netflix, and free wifi. Or opt for good conversation in a choice of indoor or garden location. Yes, that means you can smoke or vape during your session. Regardless of your reasons, we respect your beliefs and dread culture, and aim to honour your best transformation yet.

Choose a new relationship with your hair.
Natural, permanent dreads
Natural dreads are a journey, and one which holds spiritual relevance in many cultures. At your first enquiry, we talk culture and meaning, and thus set the tone for your transformation.
We then start the creation process with careful sectioning and planning, before embarking on the knotting journey using the organic method most suited to your natural hair. The maturing process of permanently ‘locking’ natural dreads may take up to two years, and is affected by your hair type, environmental factors, and aftercare.
We aim to give you the dreads you dream of. However, your natural dread thickness will ultimately depend on your natural hair volume. Please note - you can expect to lose around 1/4 - 1/3 of your hair length during the creation of natural dreads.
Our package price includes a free follow-up session to ensure your dreads mature evenly and without issue. Choice!
Permanent Extensions
The notable benefit of dread extensions is the instant results. Your new locs may feel a little stiff to begin with, but you get to choose the length and colour, for the look you want now.
Our organic crochet hook method will ensure the most secure knotting of your natural hair and your extension. Provided you choose a good colour match, permanent extensions look authentic.
Aftercare of your lengths is relatively simple, as your extensions are already semi-mature. However, just like real dreads they do benefit from maintenance - this is an important consideration when choosing your extension type (check out our range by clicking here). We will check the seam at your follow-up, and you’ll be growing your own dreads in no time. It’s a win-win!
The cost of extensions is additional to the installation fee. We are proud to offer premium quality extensions from our trusted friends over at Dread Empire. Please note, we do not always hold a full range and may need to place a custom order just for you.
Temporary Extensions
Want to trial the look? Or are you after a complete transformation for a special event? We can temporarily install dread extensions without causing any damage to your natural hair.
Yep, you read that right! Our nylon threaded braid achieves a wonderfully dreaded look while preserving the quality of your natural hair. You can clip the thread and remove your dreads at any time.
Temporary dreads may be comfortably worn for a few months or longer. Some of our customers have worn theirs for over a year! However, if left too long, it is possible that your natural hair will dread up at the roots. This can complicate the removal process and increase the risks of hair damage during removal.
Your hair type, scalp condition, comfort levels, and image preferences ultimately determine how long these beauties (and the fun that comes with them!) last. We recommend having your loctician check them every few months (some extension types do require maintenance tidy ups) and rebraid when necessary, if you love them too much to let them go!
